Wayne Little's Milton Abbas Carp Fishery produced another of its magnificent jewels when fishery management student Chris Gillet took the Baby Common at 32lb 2oz more than 4lb up on its previous best weight.

Confidence is now sky high on the Dorset syndicate water that The Melbury Common, last out in the autumn at just over 39lb, will become the first Fisher's Pond strain common to break the 40lb mark.

Oxlease Lake Oxford, Kingsmede Yatley and Monks Pool Isle of Wight are the other three venues in the running to produce the first 40lb common. Milton yielded a 30lb 11oz and a 27lb 8oz mirror to Garry Moore, who also took a lake record fully scaled at 15lb.

Tim Oatley's Rookley Park day-ticket carp fishery on the Isle of Wight saw 14 20s for the week, including The Peach at an all-time high of 34lb 12oz to Jason Rudge, who also had a 22lb 4oz catch.

Jim Roebottom took a personal best with Rosies Mate at 32lb 8oz along with others of 23lb 8oz and 24lb 2oz.

Nathan Meredith, 13, had a personal best mirror of 27lb 1oz, while dad, Mike, had fish of 23lb and 26lb 8oz.

Others: S Dennis 24lb 5oz, R Loacke 21lb 2oz and 26lb 8oz.

On the Island's Blackwater Syndicate, Ian Lee continued a good run with fish of 22lb 4oz, 23lb 15oz, 27lb 13oz and 29lb while Andy Liptrot took a cracker of 32lb 14oz. On the Island's Monks Pool, Lee Pettitt took Chunky at 37lb 6oz, John Holton caught Jack at 35lb 8oz and Spencer Wright took TJ at 30lb 8oz. On Forest Row, Tony Flux took the best with a 27lb 10oz.

Longleat's top lake remains in tremendous form and Dave, Darren and Nigel Saunders cleaned up when the Shepton Mallett trio took 67 carp for 1,089lb. Between them they landed seven fish between 9lb and 14, 25 between 14lb and 17, 26 between 17lb and 20 and nine between 20lb and 23.

The anglers took fishery manager Nick Robbins's advice and filled it in with trout pellet and fished pop-up boilies over the top to land their huge bag.

At Longbridge, Dave Hunter from Weston had a great day fishing surface baits to land ghosties of 22lb 4oz, 19lb 12oz and 18lb 6oz, plus mirrors of 19lb and 17lb ands 11 other doubles and 17 singles.

Simon Pown from Southampton landed 12 carp, including six doubles to 15lb 6oz on popped-up cheese and prawn baits from peg 25.

Robert Parsons had a hectic 24-hour session, landing 25 carp to 11lb, plus tench to 4lb 8oz, while Darren Collis took ten carp to 19lb 4oz plus 33 tench to 5lb.

Kevin Osman of Southampton fished peg 81 on Broadlands to land four grass carp to 15lb and 36 stockies to 9lb on boilies over PVA bags of trout pellet, while Brendan Lanigan took the week's best fish with a 22lb 3oz along with a 12lb.

Richard Waller of Christchurch took a cracking 19lb 5oz linear carp.
