SOUTHAMPTON Gymnastics Club members braved the elements on bank holiday Monday to wow the crowds with their acrobatic displays at the Hythe village fete.

The group of elite gymnasts were invited to take time out from their busy training schedule to help drum up interest in the charity event.

Despite having to delay the start due to a hail shower, director of coaching Mike Walker soon had them flying through the air with the greatest of ease!

More used to performing indoors at national competitions than in gusty wind and on hard ground, the group still managed to produce breathtaking double somersaults, lightning fast tumbles and intricate balances. They drew the crowds, had lots of fun and hopefully helped raise plenty of money for a good cause.

l Southampton GC provides gymnastics opportunities for more than 700, aged from baby to adult. The club covers a range of gymnastic activities, including tumble tots and gym bobs, artistic gymnastics, special needs, and acrobatic gymnastics from recreational to elite international level.
