The Isle of Wight Islanders scorched to the top of the Premier League last night with a deserved 52-40 victory over the Workington Comets at Smallbrook.
And leading the way with a superb paid 15 points maximum from his five rides was young Australian star Chris Noddy' Holder.
The margin of victory may have been even higher but for Krister Marsh, back in the side having recovered from his recent illness, suffering ignition problems.
There were also falls for reserve Chris Johnson and skipper Krzysztof Stojanowski whilst in points-scoring positions.
Johnson's alarming high speed fall of the second lap of heat 10 saw him wreck his bike as he careered into the perimeter safety fence.
He sustained mild concussion as a result and took no further part in the meeting.
The Islanders' next meeting as at the Somerset Rebels on Friday.
IOW: Chris Holder 14+1, Jason Doyle 11+2, Krister Marsh 4+2, Krzysztof Stojanowski 8, Jason Bunyan 8, Chris Johnson 3, Nick Simmons 4.
Workington: James Wright 3, Paul Thorp (rider replacement), Ritchie Hawkins 8+1, Steve Boxall (Guest) 5, Garry Stead 15, Richie Dennis 0, Aidan Collins 9+4.
