SOUTHAMPTON Running Club's Matt West made cool running of the Braishfield 5 with a personal best in the extreme heat.
West clocked a personal best time of 27min 17sec for the popular race, organised by Romsey Road Runners, despite temperatures hitting 25c.
To complete a good day for the family, dad Martyn was 12th in 31:12 to take the first Vet 50 age group prize.
Southampton's runners seem to revel in the conditions, with Paul Fotherby placing sixth in 28.50 and Paul West setting a personal best with 31:33 for 14th.
The rash of personal bests also affected the women with sixth-placed Pascal Humphries clocking 41:28 and teammate Cosma Spalluto coming home in 46:15 for 25th.
