Five members of Winchester City Penguins have qualified for the ASA National Age Group and Youth Championships.
They will travel to Ponds Forge in Sheffield between July 27 and August 6.
The five are: Sophie Jenkins (aged 13) 100m butterfly Louisa Warwick (aged 13) 100m and 200m freestyle Eleanor Selby (aged 14) 200m butterfly Simon Harling (aged 16) 50m freestyle and 4 x 100m medley relay (15-18 years Hampshire North team) James Whelan (aged 16) 100m and 200m backstroke, 100m freestyle and 4 x 100m medley relay (15-18 years Hampshire North team).
l The first two weekends of this month saw ten Penguins join the Hampshire North squad for the South East Region BAGCAT (British Age Group Category) Championships at the new 50m swimming pool in Crawley.
Four qualified for the full BAGCAT competition best 100m stroke, best 200m form stroke, 200m freestyle and 200m individual medley.
Christopher Sharpe (10) was 17th overall in his age group with his best event being the 400m freestyle (10th).
In the 11-year-old girl age group, Lauren Phillips took 21st place (best event, 13th in the 100m backstroke event).
Nicholas Courtney (11) was also 21st in his age group.
His best was eighth in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke.
In the 13-year-old girls age group, Louisa Warwick was 13th overall (best event, eighth in the 800m freestyle). She was fourth in the 200m freestyle and ninth in the 100m freestyle, achieving national qualifying times in both events.
Other Penguins (who did not qualify for the full BAGCATs) also swam.
Their best swims were: Ellie Jones (11) seventh in the 100m backstroke, Joel Frank (11) 15th in 200m backstroke, Natasha Perriam (12) 17th in 100m breaststroke, Thomas Mills (12) 22nd in the 100m freestyle, Greg Soper (13) 12th in the 800m freestyle, Sophie Jenkins (13), silver in the 100m butterfly.
Warwick, Jenkins and Perriam also took part in the Hampshire North 4 x 100m relay teams, where they finished eighth in the medley and seventh in the freestyle relays.
