POST Office worker Karen Rushton delivered a first class service and stamped her domination on the Lordshill 10km road race.

The 38-year-old, pictured left, who works for the Post Office in Southampton, won the ladies' race at the prestigious event organised by Lordshill Road Runners.

In muggy conditions, Rushton, who represents Southampton Running Club, came home first in a respectable time of 38min 41sec. The race started and finished at Lordshill Outdoor Recreation Centre and featured 222 runners.

Rushton comes from a family with a rich running history.

Father Alan, who is 64, is one of the top runners for his age in the country. Sister Emma was a successful runner, and partner Pete Crossley is one of Southampton RC's top runners.

Rushton finished just over a minute ahead of the veteran Havant AC runner, Jane Harrop, with Canadian Heather Price, from Bow Valley Running Club near Calgary in third.

It was another great day for Southampton Running Club. Andy Morgan-Lee chalked up his third win in a week by leading home the field at Lordshill.

Just four days after winning the RR10 cross-country at Manor Farm near Bursledon, and a week after capturing the Brading 10km race to secure joint first in the Hampshire Road Race League, Morgan-Lee destroyed the field, winning by more than two-and-a-half minutes.

The 36-year-old won in 31min 41sec from Hardley Runners' Mike Cummings, who finished just ahead of Bournemouth AC's Mark Hargreaves.

The city club packed the front end of the field with seven Southampton RC runners finishing in the top ten.
