"One of the best feelings I've ever had."
That was how Hampshire's Josh Goodall described his marathon second round victory in the mens' doubles at Wimbledon last night with fellow Brit Ross Hutchins.
The pair fought back from two sets down to defeat Christophe Rochus of Belgium and Switzerland's Stanislas Wawrinka 3-6 4-6 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 6-3 in front of a packed court 4.
Goodall had considered pulling out of the doubles having aggravated a stomach muscle injury during his first round singles defeat to Melle Van Gemerden on Wednesday.
But after speaking to Hutchins, the 20-year old from Basingstoke decided to see the tie through a decision that will now net him at least £8,520.
"I strapped my stomach up and that helped me a lot," said Goodall, left. "It didn't restrict me and I managed to serve well. I lost my first service game and after that I don't think I even had a break point against me."
