JUSTIN Rose said he suffered from “one of those days” after a tough first round at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth.
The Hampshire star shot three-over-par at the newly renovated West Course this afternoon.
Rose bogeyed the par four third, after finding a fairway bunker with his tee shot – something that was to prove a little bit of a theme throughout his round.
He recovered with a birdie at four, but dropped a shot at six before taking double bogey at nine.
A birdie at 11 was cancelled out by a bogey at the 12th, before Rose scrambled home in par the rest of the way.
Things could have been better for Rose, but a succession of putts narrowly missed their target.
“That was rough today,” he said. “It was a disappointing day, obviously.
“I was just a little off, I don’t know why, don’t know how.
“I drove it poorly really, a lot of bunkers.
“I tried to really think my way round there today, but still managed to find myself out of position in bunkers and things like that.
“It’s not a course you can really get away with much.
“I didn’t make much, although I didn’t miss much.
“It was just one of those days.”
