RICHARD Bland has missed the cut at the BMW PGA Championship, after slumping to a round of nine-over-par today.
The Southampton-based professional was tied seventh at the start of play this morning on three-under.
But he endured a dismal day on the West Course at Wentworth, falling down the leaderboard and ultimately missing out on the weekend.
Bland chalked it up to being “one of those days” and said he wouldn’t let it affect him mentally.
The Stoneham golfer now turns his attention to US Open qualifying at Walton Heath on Monday.
“It was one of those days, just a bad day at the office,” he said.
“It happens, but I’m okay.
“I tried hard, I couldn’t have been a shot less, I gave it everything on every shot and I’m proud of that.
“Just golf wasn’t my friend today.”
A bogey at the first followed by a double at the third dropped Bland back to level par.
He responded with a birdie at the fourth, but another double – this time at nine – saw him fall back to one-over for the tournament.
A run of three bogeys to start the back nine, followed by another at 14, meant Bland slipped to five-over.
A double at the par-five 17th followed, after putting is second into the woods.
Bland did finish with a birdie on the 18th, though.
