RICHARD Bland has missed out on a second successive year of playing in the US Open.
The Southampton golfer was at Walton Heath for the qualifying event yesterday, but fell short in his bid to make it to Pebble Beach next month.
The top 11 out of a field of 77 players went through to the year’s second major Championship.
Bland carded a pair of one-under-par rounds over the Old and New courses.
However, that was not enough and he came up a few shots shy of getting in.
It was a solid performance from Bland, though, as he bounced back from a frustrating week in the BMW PGA Championship.
His display will have gone some way to wiping out the memory of a nine-over-par second round at Wentworth.
Bland’s attention now turns to the Madrid Masters, which begins on Thursday.
He then returns to British soil next week, to play in the Celtic Manor Wales Open.
