Eastleigh and District AC water lakeside at Eastleigh has produced one of the country's biggest eels a monster of 9lb.
Steve Newell caught it on a 14ml halibut meant for carp and shatters the club's previous best. Another club record to tumble at Lakeside was the carp best, which fell to a 34lb 8oz mirror by Matthew Langley, while rumours of a superb tench of 8lb 8oz, which would also break the club record, are awaiting confirmation.
Ringwood and District AC held a club charity carp match on Northfield Lake in memory of Steven Butler, proceeds going to The Meningitis Research Fund.
Jason Moore took two mirrors (13lb 8oz and 16lb 15oz) to win from Damien Howlett (single 17lb 3oz fish), with Andy Stewart third on 15lb 3oz.
Others: G Moors 11lb 2oz, M Hawkins 10lb 12oz.
Bailiff George Sparkes from the Hale Common Fishery on the Isle of Wight has died and will be missed by all the Hale regulars.
On Tim Oatley's Island day-ticket Rookley Park carp fishery a string of big carp have again been landed. Barry O'Conner had a 15-fish haul over a week including ten twenties to 27lb 12oz. Wayne Green had three crackers of 22lb 2oz, 25lb 4oz and 32lb 8oz, while Wesley Karl took an 11-fish haul including The Long One at 31lb 2oz.
