NIGEL Adkins will be hoping Saints can soon break an unwanted record as he prepares to face League One’s recovery experts at St Mary’s.
Remarkably, Saints have failed to pick up any points this season after conceding the first goal in a match.
In fact, they haven’t even scored a goal!
By contrast, Adkins’ men will face the division’s most resilient team when eighth-placed Oldham visit on Saturday.
Last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at Huddersfield was the fifth time Saints have shipped the opening goal this campaign.
On each occasion they have not only gone on to lose, but have failed to score.
Statistically, that makes their powers of recovery the weakest in League One throughout the first quarter of the season.
Oldham, however, have established themselves as the third division’s recovery experts.
