Morgan Schneiderlin is the latest Saints midfielder to be walking a disciplinary tightrope.
The Frenchman picked up his fourth booking of the season in the win over Oldham at St Mary’s and is now just one yellow card away from having to serve a one game ban.
Schneiderlin got back in the team for the Oldham game thanks to the one game suspension for five bookings that was being served by Dean Hammond.
The central midfield area has been a bit of a revolving door of late with Hammond, Schneiderlin, and on loan Richard Chaplow all having a go in the side.
Schneiderlin and Hammond had been the regular pairing this season but Chaplow’s arrival meant much needed cover with the Frenchman off to represent his country at under-21 level, meaning he missed the game with Tranmere.
That opened the door for Chaplow to establish himself alongside Hammond, which he did for two games before Hammond’s ban which in turn led to the Chaplow and Schneiderlin partnership last weekend.
All three central midfielders are available for this weekend’s trip to County – the last game of Chaplow’s one month loan spell from Preston – as well as Paul Wotton.
The experienced midfielder, who had been suffering an injury, made his first appearance in over a month last Saturday, coming off the bench to help secure the win over Oldham.
