SAINTS advanced to the second round of the FA Youth Cup with a 3-1 win at Plymouth Argyle tonight.
Jason Dodd’s under-18 side rocked the Pilgrims youngsters at Home Park with goals from Joe Curtis, Lloyd Isgrove and Sam Hoskins seeing them through.
Saints, who featured Alex Chamberlain in their starting 11, took the lead after ten minutes, as first-year scholar Curtis turned in a low cross.
Isgrove doubled the lead just moments later, converting a rebound after the ball had come back off the crossbar.
But Argyle got themselves back into the game on the stroke of half-time, with Matt Rickard racing through to fire past Jack Dovey in Saints’ goal.
However, the visitors reasserted their dominance after the interval, with Hoskins dispossessing centre half Jamie Richards inside the area, before rounding Raivo Varazinskis to score.
Dodd’s youngsters then closed the match out fairly comfortably, as they sailed into the hat for the second-round draw.
