Nigel Adkins has warned his side to “expect the unexpected” as Saints come up against a side with a new manager tomorrow.
Paul Ince has been named as Notts County’s sixth boss since the start of last season just in time for Saints’ trip to Meadow Lane.
The appointment of a new manager often means some of a manager’s pre-match scouting and preparation can go out of the window while the opposition raise their game to impress their new boss.
Saints have certainly suffered that before, twice failing to beat sides who appointed new managers in 2009/10 in the shape of Brighton under Gus Poyet and Colchester under Aidy Boothroyd.
“What we’ve got to do is expect the unexpected,” reckoned Adkins.
“We’ve got to make sure we keep our house in order and that we go there with a mindset to win a game of football in whatever way we can with clearly defined roles in a framework of a team."
