CAPTAIN Dean Hammond thought Saints’ performance at Carlisle warranted at least a point.

Nigel Adkins’ men fell to a 3-2 defeat at Brunton Park yesterday, which ended a four-match winning run.

Despite falling foul of several individual errors, Hammond felt Saints had done enough in their general play to take something from their long trip north.

“I think we definitely deserved at least a point,” said the midfielder, who scored Saints’ second goal with a long-distance piledriver late in the game.

“I know we conceded three goals, and sloppy ones at that too, but overall I thought that we deserved more from the game than what we got.

“But we haven't, so we look forward from here now to the Peterborough game.”

Hammond doesn’t want Saints dwelling on the defeat, though, especially after such a good run of results had preceded it.

“It's one of those things, we've been on a good run and won four games in a row before this so if we do that for the rest of the season then we'll be okay,” said the on-field skipper.
