Nigel Adkins signalled a warning to the rest of League One as he insisted “there’s finance there” to back Saints’ promotion push in the January transfer window.
Saints hauled themselves back into the top six with a 4-1 thrashing of fellow promotion hopefuls Peterborough as they sent out a clear message that they are a force to be reckoned with.
Adkins’ words will also have the rest of the division trembling as Saints clearly also have the financial muscle to back up their desire to win the league.
There have been questions over whether there would be money in the pot for transfer moves following the death of owner Markus Liebherr back in August.
But Adkins poured praise on executive chairman Nicola Cortese and insisted the cash is there to back the promotion push.
