FORMER Saints defender Jelle van Damme has left Premier League side Wolves after less than six months.

The Belgian has signed for Standard Liege in his native country.

Van Damme only joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in June, in a deal which landed Saints an unexpected £300,000 windfall.

He played for Saints during the fateful 2004-05 season, when Southampton were relegated from the top flight for the first time in 27 years.

He made six appearances for Saints - the same number has he has made at Molyneux.
