RICKIE Lambert hit a hat-trick as Saints beat Brighton 3-0 to extend their St Mary’s winning streak to 20 games.
Nigel Adkins’ men remain five points clear at the top of the Championship, thanks to a devastating second half performance that saw off the ten-man Seagulls.
Lambert was the hero, heading Saints into the lead from Frazer Richardson’s cross, before converting a pair of penalties.
To compound matters for Albion, their right back and assistant manager Mauricio Taricco was sent off after arguing with referee Peter Walton.
Saints have now won their last 18 league games at home, and their last 20 in all competitions.
Adkins’ side stay five points ahead of West Ham, who won at Coventry, and are now eight ahead of third-placed Middlesbrough, who drew with Blackpool.
