PREMIER Division top dogs Beeston clinically ended Fareham’s England Hockey Cup interest by a 6-1 third-round scoreline at Henry Cort.
But head coach Nigel Cook was far from downhearted at Fareham’s cup exit.
“You have to remember we were up against the Manchester United of English hockey – a side that celebrated a league and cup double last season and is doing well in Europe.
“They don’t come much better than that, but we’ll put it down to a valuable learning experience – 70 minutes of hockey we’ll hopefully benefit from.”
Fareham were in the game after an early Craig Peel penalty corner equaliser but Beeston gradually dominated possession, changing round 3-1 ahead and playing the bulk of the second period in and around the Fareham circle.
