BRISTOL City boss Derek McInnes is convinced Saints will be challenging for automatic promotion at the end of the season – even after watching his side beat them 2-0.
Second half strikes from the magnificent Albert Adomah and the tireless Nicky Maynard were enough for the hosts to see off Nigel Adkins’ men at Ashton Gate.
But McInnes believes he saw enough from Championship leaders Saints to suggest they will still be battling it out at the top come April next year.
“Southampton are a top side, they’ll be in the shake-up come the end of the season,” said McInnes. “They’ve got a bit of everything – pace, power, strength, invention and organisation."
