Nigel Adkins was delighted with the response of his players as they bounced back from defeat at Bristol City to beat Hull 2-1 at St Mary’s.
On the back of the City loss Saints came out and struggled somewhat against away specialists Hull.
They fell behind two minutes before half time when Robert Koren converted after a good save from Kelvin Davis.
But Saints fought back superbly and had grabbed the lead within ten minutes of the restart thanks to Guly Do Prado and Adam Lallana and held on for victory.
Adkins said: “We said before it as going to be a tough game and after losing a game at the weekend can you win after that? We responded in the right manner.
“After the first half we knew the game was going to be challenging as they passed the ball very well and have got a good away record.
“It was a blow to concede a goal bang on half time. Kelvin made a fantastic save and the ball went back to the lad and he's gone and scored.
“Second half we came out and what a ten minutes that was. The crowd got behind the players, the players got the crowd going and they were two great goals that won the game for us.
“It was a great victory to go and win the game.”
