Pompey must beware some late Saints pressure in Sunday’s mouthwatering derby clash.
Statistics show that Saints are one of the top teams in the Championship when it comes to scoring late goals.
Rickie Lambert’s late, late leveller against Blackpool last weekend, below, was just the latest example of a trend which has been going on all season.
Saints have bagged 11 of their 43 Championship goals in the last 15 minutes of games, conceding just two in the process.
That underlines just how fit the squad is, a compliment to Nigel Adkins’ pre-season routines.
Pompey, though, are no slouches late on themselves.
Amazingly, they have conceded only once in the last 15 minutes of league games.
That was an Erik Huseklepp own goal that gave Peterborough victory at Fratton Park on September 27.
Since then, Pompey have won four and drawn one of their five home league games.
Only Reading have scored more than Saints’ 11 goals in the last 15 minutes of games.
