NIGEL Adkins has revealed that Kelvin Davis is "making good progress" ahead of Sunday's showdown with Pompey - but the Saints boss has not ruled out Bartosz Bialkowski having to play in goal.
Davis missed last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Blackpool because of a calf injury and there are concerns about whether he will be fit enough to feature at Fratton Park.
Bialkowski endured a nightmare afternoon in place of him at the weekend, letting a tame shot slip through his legs for a goal and almost spilling a cross into his own net.
Adkins is hopeful Davis will recover in time to feature in the south coast derby, but has indicated there is still a prospect of Bialkowski playing.
"If Bart has to play I have every confidence in him," he said. "Kelvin Davis is making good progress but I’m not saying who is in the team."
