MOSES Ademola used to be “a thorn in Eastleigh’s side”, according to manager Ian Baird.

But next season it will hopefully be the Spitfires’ opponents on the receiving end after the 22-year-old striker/right winger agreed to join the club on a long-term contract.

Ademola arrives from Blue Square Bet South champions Woking, where he scored 21 goals in 71 league appearances over two-and-a-half seasons at Kingfield.

Having spent his early years at Cray Wanderers and Croydon Athletic, Ademola was a finalist in Sky TV’s Football Icon 2.

He signed professionally for Brentford in May 2008 for a reported £2,500 fee. He joined Woking on loan in 2009 and the switch was made permanent in January 2010.

Ademola was offered new terms by the Cards in May, but has opted to become Eastleigh’s ninth summer signing following the arrivals of Marvin Williams, Osei Sankofa, Glen Southam, Dale Binns, Jai Reason, Jack Dovey, Craig McAllister and Wayne Shaw.

“I’m very, very pleased as he is a good age with a proven goal scoring record,” said Baird.

“When we’ve played against him over the years he has been a thorn in our side and will be a super addition to the squad.”

Ademola has been training with Eastleigh since the weekend and will be present for the fans’ open day (10am- 2pm) this Saturday.

“I have tried to get a good mixture of experience and youth who have a winning mentality,” said Baird.

“Moses fits the profile perfectly as he has already won things and I’m delighted he decided to join us having seen what we are trying to achieve here.

“Nothing is a given in football, but everyone at the club knows what is expected.”
