Ryan Garner and Jack Hillier suffered heartbreak when they couldn’t quite bag gold in the Three Nations championships.
The Southampton ABC pair, both in action in Warrington, came up just short boxing for England. Garner, pictured below, the defending champion, won his class, beating Scotland’s William Stuert on points in a 52-54kg semi-final.
But he was on the wrong end of a majority decision against Callum Thompson in the final.
Garner may have been slightly behind but he had a strong last round. Many thought he had done enough but he lost the closest of majority decisions.
Hillier lost his class b 48-50kg semi-final, also on his England debut, against Wales fighter Kane Shepperd.
Hillier hurt Shepperd early on and he got on the back foot for the rest of the contest. Although Hillier stalked him down, he lost the verdict.
