Tony Hill and King Davidson will share top billing as big time boxing returns to Southampton.

After a foray to Winchester for a recent show, trainer Wayne Batten brings his troops back to the city for a packed looking bill at Oceana on September 21.

The plan is to get the majority of his stable out again before ending the year with another date at Southampton Guildhall where titles will be on the line.

Davidson is set to feature following yet another fight falling through in Nigeria.

Despite the non-refundable sanctioning fees being paid to the WBO for a title defence, the entire show has been pulled, leaving Davidson battling to hold onto his international light-middleweight belt.

If he can get out and have a successful fight, and then arrange a defence for the Guildhall later in the year, he is likely to be allowed to defend the title. If not he faces being stripped of the belt he won at Oceana last year.

Hill, pictured below, is having his second fight as a light heavyweight.

The Southampton boxer has stepped up, having previously campaigned at middleweight, and looked strong as he picked up a first win in June.

There could be some big fights on the horizon for Hill, but first he wants to get another win under his belt.

Batten said: “We are hopeful of putting on a really good show again.

“There are going to be a lot of local boxers on this bill.

“My stable of fighters has grown recently and I want to try and get almost all of them out.

“I think this will be a value for money show. It’s not got a big title fight at a place like the Guildhall, but a lot of boxers and contests for the price and hopefully people will want to come along.

“It’s good for people to get to know the fighters and be able to follow them on their own home patch, rather than getting them all fights on the other side of the bill all around the country.

“It’s how we want to develop the shows and mix up these big bills with the real prestige ones with the titles as well.

“Fans get a chance to see the boxers emerge as well and follow their careers this way.

“As for the top of the bill Tony and King are right up there with the highest profile boxers we have in this area and it will be good to get them out again.”

Amongst the others that Batten has out are knockout specialist Joe Pigford, who is looking for a fourth straight win as a pro, and boxing brothers Tommy and Shane Watson from Mudeford. Also scheduled to be fighting are Alex Dilmaghani and Jake Gosling.
