Tony Hill hopes to be back on track for title glory.
The Southampton fighter will be out again a week today after cruising through his last fight.
Hill saw off Bulgarian Tzvetozar Lliev in confident fashion at Fleming Park Leisure Centre, winning every one of the six rounds.
The only downside was that the light heavyweight picked up a small cut on the top of his head, but it caused him little discomfort and won’t prevent him boxing again in Swindon next weekend.
Hill’s trainer, Wayne Batten, said: “It was a nice win for Tony. It was good to see him out again and he looked sharper the longer the fight went on and won fairly easily.
“He did pick up a small cut but it’s nothing to worry about and we are really pleased he will be fighting again very soon.
“Tony is at an important point in his career and we need to keep him active.“He has always had title winning qualities and we really want to see him fulfil that.“The British title is tied up with Travis Dickinson fighting Bob Ajisafe but we would like to get the winner of that, whenever that happens.
“Tony is ranked sixth at the moment so there is no reason why not, and if we need to bide our time then we will look at trying to set up a title shot, maybe for an IBO or Southern Area title, early next year.
“It’s all about keeping him active and making sure he is next in line.
“We take one step at a time but with where Tony is now we also need to keep looking ahead as well.”
The show was deemed a success with the other five contests being closely contested.
Rich O’Connor suffered a points defeat to Joe Walsh.
It was certainly nip and tuck and there was a feeling it might have been a draw, but the referee gave Walsh the edge and the pair have verbally agreed to a rematch already.
Wade Armour, the Southampton man who is resident in Stoke, picked up a points win, as did Bournemouth pair Jake Gosling and Matt Legg, who had good travelling support behind them.
Also well supported was Rich Walker, who made a remarkable pro debut at the age of 39.
It didn’t go quite to plan though with Walker losing on points.
