Sammy Couzens felt robbed after a controversial stoppage that had even the home fans booing on his trip to Finland.

The Titchfield based boxer was stepping up to take on his first eight-round contest against German Artur Hein in Helsinki, Finland.

He came flying out of the traps, pinning his opponent back from the start and was well ahead by the end of the second round after Hein was docked a point for a low blow.

Midway through the third, with Couzens, pictured below, still well in control, he took a blow to the chest, stepped back and as he went to come in again the referee waved off the fight.

With Couzens’ promoter and trainer Jack Bishop back home still recovering from ill health it was left to Jim Evans to storm into the ring and remonstrate with the referee with experienced boxing pundit Steve Bunce also later also questioning the decision.

Bishop said: “I had heard from Sammy what had happened and once I heard it from Jim as well then I knew when they said this was a robbery that it really was."
