It is less than a year since Shaun Udal was bowling England to their last Test victory on foreign soil - but he cannot see where the next win is coming from.

"I think we could lose 5-0, Australia haven't totally fired yet and I can only see them kicking on," said the Hampshire veteran, who spun England to a series-levelling victory against India in Mumbai back in March.

"Matthew Hayden and Damien Martyn are due to score runs at some stage and Stuart Clark has been the only seam bowler who has been really consistent so the series could be all over before Christmas," added the 37-year-old.

The third Test begins in Perth on December 14, but Udal believes England will struggle to avoid the country's biggest Ashes defeat since the 5-0 hammering in 1920-21 following yesterday's stunning second Test loss in Adelaide.

Udal's good friend and Hampshire skipper Shane Warne bagged four wickets for 29 runs in 27 overs as England collapsed to 129 all out.

He said: "When I went to bed on Monday night I thought an Australia win was very unlikely, as everyone else did. We had no real chance of winning going into the last day but the draw was the clear favourite.

"I went to bed early convinced it would be a draw, I couldn't see any other result, but my wife Emma woke me at 6.45am to tell me I'd better look at the television!

"I was full of dismay when I saw they only needed 90-odd from 20 overs. We missed a massive oppportunity at 60-odd for 3 in their first innings when Ashley Giles dropped Ricky Ponting, that was a big turning point after declaring at 551-6.

"We didn't really score quickly enough in that first innings but we weren't allowed to. All those people that had a go at Shane Warne for being negative by bowling at Kevin Pietersen's legs have been proved wrong. Warney knew exactly what he was doing."
