Matthew Hayden and Cameron White are included in Australia's one-day squad for the Commonwealth Bank series against England and New Zealand.
Hayden, who has been in and out of the one-day side since 2004, gets the nod because of Damien Martyn's retirement and former Hampshire all-rounder Shane Watson's injury problems.
White, who made the last of his five one-day appearances against New Zealand in 2005, is selected on the back of his recent impressive form for Victoria. He also starred for Somerset last summer, including a world record 141 in a Twenty20 Cup tie.
Cricket Australia chairman of selectors Andrew Hilditch said the two forced changes had allowed selectors to reward Hayden and White's good form.
''While we have been very pleased with Shane Watson's recent performance at the top of the order, his injury provides a well deserved opportunity for Matthew Hayden and this gives him another chance to press his claims prior to the World Cup,'' said Hilditch.
''Cameron White has been in great form with the bat and has had some terrific performances with the ball. He richly deserves this opportunity. He adds depth to the batting and balance to the bowling and hopefully we can see him seize his chance".
Australia will open the one-day series against England in Melbourne on January 12.
Selectors have also announced a preliminary 30-man squad for the 2007 World Cup when Australia will defend their title in the Caribbean.
The preliminary squad will be trimmed to 15 before the February 13 deadline.
The squad includes Watson, as well as NSW opener Phil Jaques, South Australian Mark Cosgrove and Tasmanian youngsters Ben Hilfenhaus and Travis Birt.
Hilfenhaus has also been called up to Australia's squad for the Twenty20 match against England at the SCG after impressing selectors with his form during the Ford Ranger Cup and for Australia A.
Hayden and White have also been included in the Twenty20 side in preparation for their involvement in the one-day series to follow.
Selectors have opted to rest pacemen Stuart Clark and Glenn McGrath in order to manage their preparation for the rest of the summer.
