Kevin Pietersen and Shane Warne will face Andrew Flintoff and Muttiah Muralitharan in a mouth-watering county championship match at the Rose Bowl next month.

Pietersen has been made available to play the Friends Provident Trophy match against Ireland at the Rose Bowl on May 7 - and will face Flintoff when Hampshire begin a four-day championship match against Lancashire on May 9.

The centrally-contracted pair have not played first-class cricket since the final Ashes Test in January so will represent their counties in preparation for the first Test of the summer against the West Indies on May 17.

It promises to be a star-studded side that plays Ireland and Lancashire because Stuart Clark, Hampshire's second overseas player from May 7-June 20,is expected to make his debuts for the county in both forms of the game.

Lancashire, meanwhile, are also expected to field James Anderson, Sajid Mahmood and their two overseas players, Muttiah Muralitharan and Brad Hodge, who will be available fresh from the World Cup.
