Hampshire skipper Shane Warne and Glenn McGrath could be tempted to join Brian Lara in the breakaway Indian Cricket League - providing the money is right.

Lara signed up earlier this week but it appears there is still much work to do before the two Australian greats commit themselves.

"They haven't offered what we have asked for, so negotiations are proceeding," Warne's manager James Erskine admitted.

"Provided the terms and conditions are right, Shane Warne will play. But it's a long way off before we get the contract signed."

The new competition will see international stars team up with Indian players and local youngsters in a six-team league which will play Twenty20 matches across the country.

Former England captain Tony Greig, Indian greats Kapil Dev and Kieran More plus former Australia Test batsman Dean Jones are on the organising committee for the new league.

McGrath's manager, Warren Craig, said he had spoken to officials regarding the new competition, and that he would not rule out his client returning to play in the rebel league.

"They haven't given us any indication (regarding money)," he said.

"Now Lara has signed, things might start to hot up a bit. Things could start to move over the next week or so."
