SHANE Warne will not be asked to break his Hampshire contract if he wants to play in the inaugural Indian Cricket League.
The Rose Bowl talisman is a target to play in the Twenty20 format which is due to start in October.
West Indies legend Brian Lara signed up this week.
The new competition will see international stars team up with Indian players and and up-and-coming youngsters in a six-team league which will play Twenty20 matches across the country.
Former Australia Test batsman Dean Jones is on the organising committee for the new league.
Jones said: "We are not there to ask guys to break contracts with their countries - we're not doing that. We are targeting countries that are not playing at that time".
Himanshu Modi, who is in charge of running the Indian Cricket League, said reports that Warne could earn £900,000 from the venture were "a little out of our budget".
He added: "We are looking for 25 to 30 international players for our competition and I am speaking with at least five or six people out of Australia.
"They are current and former players. I can't confirm those names at the moment, but hopefully I will be able to by the end of the week".
