STUART Broad is wanted by both Hampshire and Nottinghamshire, but tomorrow night the two counties will be contesting Pro40 points at the Rose Bowl.
Nottinghamshire are favourites to sign the 21-year-old, but the son of former Notts and England batsman Chris Broad is also wanted by Warwickshire and Hampshire when his contract at Leicestershire expires at the end of the season.
Hampshire director of cricket Tim Tremlett confirmed: "Stuart is a very good young bowler and if he is available we would certainly be interested."
Broad is understood to favour his base in the east midlands so confirmation of move from Grace Road to Trent Bridge for English cricket's brightest fast-bowling prospect is expected at the end of the season.
But Hampshire will not have given up hope, and the prospect of learning from Shane Warne may yet tempt Broad to move to the south coast.
The Hawks' first game back in the Pro40 first division, against the Worcestershire Royals, was abandoned but they host Nottinghamshire Outlaws tomorrow fresh from a dramatic two-run win against the Essex Eagles at the Rose Bowl on Sunday.
Nottinghamshire won their opening Pro40 game under floodlights against Warwickshire at Edgbaston last week.
Play starts at the Rose Bowl at 4.40pm tomorrow afternoon.
