SHAUN UDAL is determined to become the first Hampshire player to win four Lord's finals on Saturday.

Udal's Hampshire teammate John Crawley has won five domestic Lord's finals - but four were with Lancashire plus one since his move to the Rose Bowl.

Udal is one of only five players to have won three Lord's finals as a Hampshire player (Robin Smith, Jon Ayling, Cardigan Connor and Paul Terry are the others).

Now he is targeting a fourth winner's medal in 16 years to add to those from the Natwest/C & G Trophy triumphs of 1991 and 2005 and the Benson & Hedges Cup victory in 1992.

Udal captained Hampshire to the C & G Trophy two years ago but is out of contract at the end of the season and, at 38, knows this may be his last chance to win a final at headquarters.

He said: "The 1991 final went by in a bit of a blur. I was still only 22 and too young to appreciate it and it was similar in 1992. But winning as captain 13 years later . . .receiving the trophy from Mark Nicholas and seeing Rod Bransgrove so happy was the highlight of my Hampshire career. I've watched the video a few times since!"
