LIAM DAWSON is ready for his home debut - but may have to wait before becoming Hampshire's youngest post-war County Championship debutant.

The 17-year-old is expected to keep his place in the Hampshire Hawks' Pro40 side against the Warwickshire Bears under the Rose Bowl floodlights tonight (4.40pm start) following his encouraging debut at Northampton on Bank Holiday Monday.

Dawson's 31-ball 32 was one of the few positives from the Hawks' five-wicket defeat against the Northamptonshire Steelbacks.

It was a performance that may also persuade Paul Terry to hand him a Championship debut against Surrey tomorrow.

Swindon-born Dawson would have been in contention to play against Lancashire last week if he was not on England U19s duty, but Shaun Udal is likely to replace Shane Warne from the side that drew at Old Trafford.
