Totton & Eling all-rounder James Hibberd may have written his name into the record books after hitting an astonishing 157 runs off just 48 balls in a Twenty20 cup match in Somerset.
Hibberd, 26, who plays Minor Counties Championship cricket for Wiltshire, smashed a staggering 14 sixes and 14 fours in his dazzling stay at the crease.
He believes his innings may be a record in English recreational cricket.
"We were playing on a pretty small ground at Uphill Castle, near Weston-Super-Mare, which was ideal for big hitting.
"And I just cashed in - as did quite a few other batsmen," he laughed.
Hibberd's onslaught came against West of England Premier League club Weston-Super-Mare and put Totton & Eling into the Sky Sports televised finals of the Northgear national Twenty20 Cup at Canterbury on Sunday September 30.
Weston hit nine sixes in their own 241-6 - six of them being struck by Rob Turner, the former Somerset and Cambridge University batsman, who made 119.
But he was completely eclipsed by Hibberd, who brought up his 50 off 17 balls, his century in 31 and 150 off 46 deliveries!
