Shaun Udal and Billy Taylor's Hampshire futures are expected to be revealed after the final Pro40 match of the season against Lancashire at Old Trafford tomorrow.

The out-of-contract pair are both in the squad for the trip to Manchester, from where Hampshire will travel across the Pennines on Monday in readiness for their final Championship match against Yorkshire at Headingley, which starts on Wednesday.

Until Thursday night, Hampshire were one of only two teams that could win the Pro40 title but Worcestershire are champions after beating Gloucestershire under the Bristol floodlights.

A win at Old Trafford would at least secure Hampshire second place, and that would represent their best finish in one-day league competition since winning the old John Player Special League in 1986.

Michael Lumb (327) and John Crawley (230) are the leading run scorers in the Pro40 first division this year and they will continue as Hampshire's opening one-day pair at Old Trafford, providing former Lancashire captain Crawley passes a fitness test on his injured back.

There is no place in the squad for Shane Warne, who is resting ahead of Hampshire's final Championship match at Headingley.

Nic Pothas will captain in his absence tomorrow and Liam Dawson may win a recall, while David Balcombe could make his one-day debut.

But the main news this weekend is likely to be the decision on the future of Udal, who is comfortably Hampshire's longest-serving player, having made his debut in 1989.
