HAMPSHIRE wicketkeeper Nic Pothas has finally been awarded British Citizenship in a ceremony at Southampton Civic Centre.

Pothas, 35, is pictured with Southampton Sheriff Elizabeth Mizon.

He said: “I had to swear an alle giance and make a pledge but I’m not sure if it makes me England-quali fied – that’s still up in the air because of my ICL links.”

The International Cricket Council’s executive board meet today to decide whether the Indian Cricket League will be ranked along side the Stanford Series and the Hong Kong Sixes as a sanctioned tournament.

But Pothas does not yet know whether he will be playing a second ICL season in March.
