The agent of Hampshire star Kevin Pietersen says it is too early to know whether the England batsman will play in the Indian Premier League following yesterday's terrorist attack in Pakistan.

Pietersen has been signed by the Bangalore Royal Challengers for the first three weeks of the IPL but security fears have risen since gunmen opened fire on the Sri Lanka team in Lahore.

Adam Wheatley, Pietersen's agent, said: "I haven't spoken to Kevin about the IPL and don't think it is really right in the current climate to be talking about the IPL."

Hampshire captain Dimi Mascarenhas has signed for the Rajasthan Royals for the duration of the IPL and finished his stint with New Zealand outfit the Otago Volts at the weekend.

He will be in the Caribbean for the one-day leg of England's West Indies tour before his second IPL season is due to begin.
