Hampshire have ruled out the use of the Rose Bowl as a neutral venue for Pakistan next year.

Pakistan’s home series against Australia in 2010 is likely to be played in England following the terrorism in Lahore on Tuesday.

England are due to play Sri Lanka in the Rose Bowl’s first Test in 2011, when the ground’s £45m redevelopment will be complete.

But Rose Bowl plc managing director Glenn Delve has confirmed the ground will not be ready for Pakistan v Australia next year.

Delve said: “I think it’s too soon for us. We would really like to stage a Test when we’re fully ready and don’t want to take anything away from our first Test in 2011 when we want to enjoy a real festival of cricket."
