Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry is fitter than ever - after spending his winter sprint training with Dwain Chambers.
Carberry worked with Chambers on the track at Pickett’s Lock so was delighted when the controversial sprint star continued his latest comeback by setting a new European 60m indoor record of 6.42 in Turin at the weekend.
Carberry said: “It was fantastic to watch Dwain’s preparation and to see him power out of the blocks.
“I learnt a lot just by following him around and watching him train.
“I’m a lot bigger than he is in terms of mass and am at the stage where I don’t want to get much bigger so I’ve taken on board the fact he doesn’t use weights.
"I've seen ther rewards - I've broken all my personal bests on the pre-season fitness tests!
“Dwain’s a fantastic athlete and a top bloke. He’s obviously had a hard time of it of late but I could see how dedicated and focused he is.
“I’ve got a lot of admiration for him.”
