Hampshire captain Nic Pothas believes there is more to come from Michael Lumb.
The Hawks opener’s blistering century set the tone for the fourth highest one-day score at the Rose Bowl on Saturday – and moved Hampshire one step from Lord’s after a comfortable Friends Provident quarter-final victory over Middlesex.
But Pothas believes Lumb is only just warming up!
He said: “Lumby has always been a dominant performer but he matured by two or three years in today’s innings.
“He put his ego in his pocket and just knocked it out the ground. Today has been a massive turning point for him and his career.”
After becoming Hampshire’s third Rose Bowl centurion in less than a week by registering his second one-day ton, Lumb was a happy man.
His only previous one-day hundred was in a losing cause against Sussex at Hove two years ago.
