Charlie Duffell cracked an unbeaten 163 as South Wilts 2nd XI ended St Cross Symondians' unbeaten Hampshire League, County Division 1 start with a 55-run victory at Lower Bemerton.

The former Radley College and Middlesex Under-19 batsman spanked a six and 25 fours as South Wilts posted a formidable 301-6 in 48 overs.

Stephen Fryer, batting at nine, hit 80 as previously undefeated St Cross were dismissed for 246. The result leaves Hursley Park 13 points clear of Locks Heath at the top.

Ben Smyth (70) and Chris Wheeler (68) did the spadework as Hursley challenged newly promoted Portchester's 228-7 (Shaun Kelly 100).

But it needed an unbroken sixth-wicket stand between Nick Best (35) and Paul Davies (28) to see the leaders across the line.

Australian Glen Lambeth (111) hit his second consecutive century as Locks Heath posted 254-8 before beating Flamingo by 44 runs at The Holt.

Former Saints defender Jason Dodd hit a valiant 71 not out for Flamingo.

Matt Journeaux's 95 not out steered Sarisbury Athletic to a seven-wicket win over winless United Services II, while Darren Vann cracked an unbeaten 76 as Cadnam broke their duck with a nine-wicket thrashing of Petersfield (126).

A five-wicket spell by Nick Matthews, coupled with attractive knocks by Steve Wallis (77) and Richard Keep (55), steered champions Eastleigh & Otterbourne to a seven-wicket win at Bramshaw (143).
