CHRIS Benham produced a timely century at the Rose Bowl yesterday.
The 23-year-old had been added to the Hampshire squad at the weekend for the Championship match against Durham beginning today at West End.
And he responded by hammering 143 for Hampshire 2nds in a one-day friendly win against the MCC Young Cricketers yesterday.
Benha, left, was the linchpin behind Hampshire's 308-7 total, with Mitchell Stokes also impressing with 63.
In reply, MCC were dismissed for 215.
Benham has only played one senior 1st XI innings for Hampshire in 2006, scoring just two in the C & G Trophy loss against Kent at the Rose Bowl in May.
He also scored 34 in the rain-wrecked match against Loughborough University at the Rose Bowl that same month.
