St Cross Symondians' stay at the top of Southern Electric Premier League, Division 2 lasted just seven days.

A seven-wicket defeat by Andover meant the leadership changing hands for a fourth successive week Trojans bounced back to the summit with a healthy 80-run win over Purbrook, while champions Ventnor lost ground after a three-wicket defeat at Lymington.

A fine new-ball spell by Richard Taylor (3-27), which included the wicket of Hampshire's Jimmy Adams (20), had St Cross creaking at 44-3.

Ben Adams (33) and Graham Noble (35) repaired the damage but St Cross lurched again at 116-5 before Mark Padwick's 32 not out took their final total to 169-7 (Chris Hadfield 3-22).

Mark Miller played the lead role, hitting 92 not out as Andover romped to a seven-wicket win.

A century second-wicket stand between Jamie Wood (83 not out) and Jack Sedden (58) paved the way for Trojans' 80-run win over Purbrook.

Trojans piled up an impressive 247-6 before Jamie Donaldson (3-47) wrecked Purbrook's top order.

While hundreds of Harley Davidson motor-bike fanatics were arriving for their annual convention, Purbrook sank to 16-4 and never recovered.

Will Prozesky (52) and Christie Viljoen (30) tried hard to pick up the pieces, but Tim Felstead (3-44) and Mario Mohammed (2-36) broke the rally and dismissed Purbrook for 167.

Lymington halted a two-match losing sequence to put a spoke in the wheel of Ventnor's prospects of lifting a third successive title.

They beat the Islanders by three wickets at the Sports Ground.

Rob Snell (52) pointed Ventnor towards a useful total, but of the later batsmen only Neil Westhorpe (34) made a telling contribution.

Lloyd Scott, omitted from Hampshire's under-17 squad, dropped a timely hint to selectors with a fine 4-46 return, which included the scalps of three of the top five Ventnor batsmen.

But overhauling Ventnor's 184-9 proved no easy task for Lymington, who sank to 61-4 (Adie Hunt 28) before their reply took any sort of shape.

Zimbabwe's Keith Dabengwa (36) and Christian Pain doubled the total before Lymington slipped to 137-6.

Fortunately for Lymington, Pain kept his head, scoring a match-winning 59 not out which, with support from Simon King and Mark Newton (18 not out), saw the hosts home.

Max Smith hit 62 after taking three wickets but was unable to spare Old Tauntonians & Romsey from a 47-run defeat against Havant 2nd XI.

Havant's 250-8 was in the main due to a fine 70 on debut by Whiteley teenager Pete Hopson but, Smith and Nick De Stefano (37) apart, OTs lacked a potential match-winner.

Veteran left-arm spinner Phil Loat gradually picked off his victims and finished with 5-34.

Chris Yates (54) continued his rich vein of form and Tasmanian Scott McNaughton (48) top scored as Rowledge totalled 263-9 before Hungerford were dismissed for 182.

Chris Yates senior took 4-27 and Simon Bonser a tidy 3-42.
