England completed their preparations for tomorrow's ICC World Twenty20 semi-final against Sri Lanka with an intensive practice session at Beausejour Stadium - without Hampshire's Kevin Pietersen.
Number three batsman Pietersen was due to arrive in St Lucia mid-afternoon local time, and therefore had to miss nets this morning.
He will have less than 24 hours to overcome jet-lag and ready himself for the last-four match - starting at 4.30pm BST - following his dash across the Atlantic and back to be present at the birth of his first child in London.
Pietersen therefore missed England's final Super Eight match at this same venue on Monday, when they scraped a three-wicket win over New Zealand to complete a perfect campaign in Group E.
Sri Lanka yesterday beat India, and then watched West Indies lose to Australia - ensuring they stand between England and a first final in an International Cricket Council tournament since the 2004 Champions Trophy.
