Simon Jones bowled another ten overs for Hampshire on the second day of the Second Eleven Championship match against Somerset at Taunton Vale.

The former England fast bowler has 0 for 42 from 16 overs in Somerset's first innings and could yet be available for Hampshire Royals' opening Friends Provident t20 match against Kent at the Rose Bowlnext Thursday.

Failing that, he could make his Hampshire debut in what would be a mouthwatering return to Wales to take on former county Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium on June 8.

Hampshire seconds coach Jon Ayling said: "Jonah bowled with good pace again and was hostile on a flat one."

Captain Dimi Mascarenhas bowled six overs as Hampshire beat Somerset by two wickets in the Second Eleven Trophy on Monday but is not playing in the SEC match and is not in the squad for Sunday's Clydesdale Bank game against Scotland.
