DIMI Mascarenhas is still in contention to play in Thursday’s Friends Provident t20 opener against the Kent Spitfires.
The Hampshire captain has not played this season because of an Achilles injury but has been included in the squad for tomorrow’s Friends Provident t20 warm-up game against Dorset at Dean Park, Bournemouth (5pm start).
Hampshire manager Giles White said: "We’ve realised what a big player Dimi is over the last couple of months and he’s a very big player in t20 so we’re keen for him to play.
"He’s important low down the order and takes pace off the ball so we’re hopeful he’ll play against Dorset and, if he gets through that, against Kent."
Abdul Razzaq is expected to arrive in time to make his Royals debut on Thursday, when Rangana Herath will also play following White’s decision not to sign a replacement for Shahid Afridi.
